Racial Distribution

The racial distribution of persons injured prior to 2000 was Caucasian (61.8%), African American (32.3%) and Hispanic (4.2%) as compared to Caucasian (67.1% and 64.7%), African American (25.5% and 25.8%) and Hispanic (4.6% and 5.3%) for the last 2 five-year cycles. Thus, the proportion of injuries occurring in Caucasian population has slightly increased while the proportion of injuries occurring in the African American population has slightly decreased.
