Dr. Fried received his medical degree at Yale Medical School in 1985. Dr. Fried is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has subspecialty board certification in Spinal Cord Injury, as well as, Pain Medicine.
He also belongs to various societies and professional organizations such as the American Spinal Injury Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Since 2006, Dr. Fried became the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. He is currently Medical Director of Outpatient Services, of the Incontinence Program, and the Respiratory Care Program.
Dr. Fried has an interest in rehabilitation for spinal cord injury patients with ventilator-assisted breathing, and is one of a handful of physicians in the country focusing on this type of care. Dr. Fried has worked exclusively with Botulinum Toxin (Botox) to treat spasticity and pain. He also specializes in intrathecal baclofen therapy and directs the urinary incontinence program using nonsurgical methods.
Dr. Fried is a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University, and serves as the Co-Investigator on several clinical trials involving spinal cord injury. Dr. Fried has presented and is published in all of his areas of interest.
